The Making of the Album

These songs were a few years in the making – Caroline was writing and developing them with local children for a number of months before starting to record them. We tried to get as many of these children involved as possible – managing to get them to come over to the studio in groups to record sections of the songs together.

We also wanted these songs to be an opportunity for the children to hear some great professional instrumental playing – a chance to learn about new instruments and different styles of playing. All the instrumental arrangements were recorded by some of London’s top session musicians. The finishing touch was the percussion lines, which were played by both traditional instruments and also many instruments made from recycled items and rubbish. Hopefully this might inspire little listeners to come up with some imaginative ideas about how to make some fun new instruments and think of creative uses for unwanted everyday items, joining in with the music with whatever they can find!

Caroline is a musician and song writer. She has been running children's music sessions in North London for over 20 years.

A mother of 3, she also works in schools, nurseries, care homes and day centres. Her songs are catchy, memorable and heartfelt - all original compositions driven by her belief in the difference that music can make to local communities and beyond..
